Goodbye Pyongyang, hello Beijing

We are up ridiculously early, for us, to catch our flight back to Beijing.  Security is far less tight than when we entered.  It is almost comically so.

We have said our goodbyes to Mitch and Simon, who are staying on for another 3 days, and Michael, so was adding one additional day.  Both of these groups were going off to northern villages and cities.  I envied Mitch and Simon as they got to spend more time with Mr. Song and Mr. Kim.  They were the most interesting part of the trip...what makes them tick?

We are spending 2 nights in Beijing before heading to Shanghai, and it does not start auspiciously. We arrive at the Jinjiang Inn, a chain in China, that we like, and they don't have any rooms nor do they have a reservation.  They are kind enough to to let us sit in the lobby to steal the wifi to find another hotel.   We end up next door in the Crowne Plaza.  Which was just fine, albeit, more expensive, but desperate times....

We have a lot of stuff that has been accumulated, arena footballs, shirts, stuff that we no longer needed, etc. and we had stored this at Servet's place.  We met up with him and Wendy at this restaurant that does the best stuff with "pears".

We met, we ate, and we took a wild taxi ride to Servet's dorm to pick up the bag of stuff and then head home.  Bill promised the taxi cab driver another 50 RMB to wait for Servet to come back to the cab.  We land at the Crowne Plaza and Wendy has to schlep back to the dongsi train station to get a metro back Shilipu where her accommodations are located.
