China Bowl Weekend, Sunday Nov 5

Wendy and 2 friends from the PT program, Paul and Alisha, came to Shanghai late on Sat. night.  We met up for brekkies and they did their sightseeing stuff and Bill and I went to the stadium to do our "gig".  Bill made plans with them to arrive late in the game to see the 4th quarter or so.

All the big wigs were at the stadium, except for Jaws, which makes sense as it is NFL season in the US and he is broadcasting.  Lou Tilly was there, as was Marty Judge.

There was a good crowd and a sense of excitement in the air.  The player wrangling was a little different this time as there were 4 other teams that will be on the field at the beginning.

Dalian led off, then Guangzho, and finally Beijing.  This was on my side, for Bill's side, it was Shenzhen, Shanghai, then Qingdao.

The 4 teams that played on Saturday, were in their practice jerseys without helmets and no backpacks.  Beijing and Qingdau were fully suited up and helmets on the right hip.

The game was very exciting.  It came down to the very last play of the 4th quarter, and even then it was not that satisfying, as the ref called a foul after Qingdao had stopped Beijing on the 1 yard line.  The Lions got another go, and made it over the line.  I felt so bad for the Qingdao players to go from absolute pure joy to dejection in the space of 2 minutes.

All in all, it was a good game and the celebration on the field afterward was fun.  Met Mrs. Dolezel who was very friendly, and chatty, unlike her husband.

We left the stadium and found Wendy and crew sitting on a curb.  When they arrive the box office was closed, so no way they could get into the game.  We jumped on the metro and found a Thai place in a mall close to the hotel.

Between 5 of us, we could not finish this....over ordering as per our usual.
