The Sudan, our new home for 5 days

The Sudan is a steam powered side wheeler cruise ship from the 19th century.  She is a beautiful ship.  All brass fittings, shiny with polish, wing back chairs, lovely sun deck with lounge chairs.  She evokes the Raj.  The dining room was well lit and elegantly set up.  The Lounge was all dark wood and exuded a old school club.  Our room was wonderful.  Windows on 2 sides on the port side of the boat.
This is a view from the bow to the stern on the starboard side of the upper deck.  The covered area has seating and in front and behind that covered area are sun chairs.

This is a view of the covered upper deck.
Here are a few of the other travelers, a French couple and Bob with me striking a pose on the railing!
This is the lounge and Bill and I are enjoying a glass of hibiscus tea.

This first day, we went off around 2 pm to the Karnak Temple complex.  This was a wonderful site with ruins than cover more dynasties than Luxor.

We also headed to the Temple of Luxor for a night viewing of the temple, which was very dramaatiic

Avenue of the Sphinx at night.

Back to the boat for our first night on board.  In port, the boat listed and my side of the bed had a sever tilt to the north!  This wasn't a problem until you got up at night and found yourself rushing toward a wall.

The meals on board were very, very good.  The food was fresh and delicious.  I was really impressed with how things were repurposed.  For example, all rooms that were occupied were given a fruit bowl.  Bill and I only ate a few pieces that were given.  The rest were turned into fruit salad or compote.
