Getting Ready for Cuba

We head out in a couple of days for the island of Cuba. I am excited as well as anxious.   I am not concerned about changing money or the quality of our casas, but remain wary of the politcal climate in the US.  Would hate to be there and have the government decide to reimpose an embargo on travel. That would suck, big time.

Here is an overview of our trip:  We start in Havana, then fly to Camaguey City.  From there we will travel back to the west using Viazul, a bus system that goes between cities in Cuba, to Trinidad in Sancti Spiritus region, then Cienfuegos City, and finally back in Havana.

We opted for mostly AirB&B's because you can use a credit card.

I haven't yet decided to use the "beast" or a roller bag.  While the beast served me very well in China,  schlepping it around a humid country doesn't thrill me!  An advantage to the beast is it allows 2 hands free, while a roller bag has one hand occupied at all times.  The disadvantage is that it must be checked or stowed and not brought into the main cabin of the plane or in the bus.  I need to keep in mind that the bag will be worn only during travel times, which on this trip are quite a few as well as different modes of travel.  As Bill would say, first world problem!

The beast has been worn to the subway and through the airport.  It is safely in luggage stowage in the plane's belly.  I, on the other hand, am a twitchy messs right now.  Every muscle in my legs and back are either aching or firing inappropriately.  I had previously chalked this up to low iron levels, but I have been taking my iron tabs, so back to the drawing board for this one.

We are currently somewhere over Virginia, heading south toward our adventure in Havana.  Or, I suppose, more correctly, Cuba.
Here is my tourist visa, you can see my shadow as I take a snap of it!

There is more paperwork to fill out here on the plane.  There is a health survey and a customs declaration.  Oy!
